PROJECT
Heavy Is The Head
CLIENT

photography, set design, creative direction

Personal project challenging the discrimination of black women and natural hair in Corporate America.

This project is a visual celebration. It is meant to elevate the women who bear the weight of responsibility that it takes to speak up, and speak out about subtle but dangerous discriminations within the workplace.

Box braids, afros, twist outs, head wraps, and locs are part of black culture. Not only is it a cultural marker, it is absolutely essential to the health, maintenance, and well being of black hair. Attaching professionalism to the decisions black individuals take to care for their natural hair is challenging a black person's very being and worth. And it will NOT be considered, accepted, or ignored.
